Who sits out next
- Whoever has sat out the fewest times is first in line to sit out.
- If that's level, the player who has played the most games sits out.
- Any remaining ties are broken at random.
In short: sit-outs rotate fairly, and nobody sits out again while someone else hasn't had a turn yet.
How many sit out
Each court takes 2 players in singles or 4 in doubles. Anyone who doesn't fit sits out that round. For example, 9 players on 2 doubles courts means 8 play and 1 sits out.
The live screen shows who's sitting out each round, and so does the live link if you're sharing one.
When it isn't perfectly even
Fair rotation is the priority, but some settings change how it works:
- Fixed pairs sit out together, as a pair.
- Same Court locks groups of players to one court, so rotation happens within each group.
- In the Ladder, with an odd number, the lowest-ranked player who has had the fewest byes sits out.
- In Swiss, the player who has had the fewest byes gets the next one, and a bye counts as a win.
Late arrivals and early leavers
Tap Manage on the live screen to add or remove players. Changes take effect next round, so current matches aren't disrupted. The Players tab also lets you mark someone as sitting out until they're ready.
FAQ
Can someone sit out twice in a row?
Not while someone else has sat out fewer times. Whoever has sat out least is always next to sit out, so a second sit-out only comes once everyone has had one (Fixed pairs and Same Court work within their pairs and groups).
Can I choose who sits out?
Yes. Edit Mode lets you swap players between courts and the sitting-out list (Round Robin, Swiss, Group Stage and Ladder).
