What is a round robin tournament?
In a round robin everyone plays everyone. Nobody is knocked out, everyone keeps playing, and the table is decided by results instead of a lucky draw. It's the classic format for club nights and social sessions where people come to play, not to sit and watch.
How to run a round robin in the app
- Select your players and choose Singles or Doubles.
- For doubles, pick Unique pairing (partners rotate every round) or Fixed pairs (teams stay together).
- Set your courts and the Round Robin Target: Once, Twice, 3× or Continuous.
- Each round is planned for you: whoever has sat out the least sits out next, and pairings keep repeat opponents (and repeat partners) to a minimum.
- Record results as matches finish. The table reorders instantly. Tap Complete Round and the next round is ready.

How the table is ranked
- Table points (win 1, loss 0 by default)
- Point difference, if you're tracking scores
- Fewer losses
- Players who are still level share the same rank
Pros and cons
- Everyone keeps playing
- The fairest ranking
- No one goes home after one bad game
- Matches add up quickly with big groups
- Needs more court time than a knockout
Best for
- Club nights and social sessions
- Rotating-partner doubles for pickleball and padel
- Small to medium groups on a few courts
Organiser tips
- Too many players for one night? Use Group Stage, or Swiss with a fixed number of rounds.
- Same Court groups players by rating and keeps each group on one court all night.
- No Winners turns it into pure social play: no results needed, and no winner is crowned.
- Print the fixtures before you start. When you press Start the app plays exactly the schedule you printed.

Round Robin FAQ
How are sit-outs decided?
Sit-outs rotate fairly. Whoever has sat out the fewest times is next to sit out. If that's level, the player who has played the most games sits out. Ties are broken at random. So nobody sits out again while someone else hasn't had a turn yet.
Will I get the same partner or opponent twice?
Unique pairing keeps repeats to a minimum. Sometimes a repeat can't be avoided, for example 8 players on 2 doubles courts after a few rounds. Then the app picks the option with the fewest repeats.
Is it the same as an Americano?
Partners rotate like an Americano, but the table ranks by wins and then point difference rather than total points won.
Can we play everyone twice?
Yes. Set the Round Robin Target to Twice or 3×, or Continuous to keep playing until you finish.
Is Round Robin free?
Yes. Round Robin and Single Elimination are free for up to 4 players on 1 court, singles or doubles.
